The symptoms of anxiety can vary greatly between people. Because of this, it is very important to get a proper diagnosis when a person is experiencing the symptoms of anxiety. In this article, we will discuss some of the symptoms and what they are.

The first and most common symptom of anxiety is an overwhelming feeling of dread and apprehension. Often people experience this dread and apprehension when an event has to be taken care of such as a health issue, an insurance company, or payment.

The sensations a person’s body feels is often described as butterflies in the stomach, feelings of dizziness, weakness, and shaking. When the heart rate begins to increase the person is experiencing anxiety and begins to sweat profusely.

A person experiences shortness of breath when he/she is feeling anxious. He/she also begins to feel as though they are choking or taking in air because of the increased pressure on the chest area.

If a person experiences more than one of these symptoms of anxiety, then it is very likely that anxiety is the cause. In some cases, the symptoms of anxiety are caused by eating a spicy or greasy meal, drinking alcohol, smoking, taking medication, and excessive caffeine.

The symptoms of anxiety tend to worsen with each passing day. They can also come and go on their own. Some people do not experience any symptoms at all, or they are mild while others experience one or more of the following symptoms of anxiety; anxiousness, trembling, sweating, difficulty breathing, shakiness, nausea, dizziness, frustration, fear, nervousness, panic, depression, and even agoraphobia.

When people think about the different symptoms of anxiety there is usually one thing that is mentioned repeatedly, and that is feelings of dread. Many times anxiety and fear are actually the same thing. Often when we are afraid we begin to avoid certain situations and this causes us to have a lack of confidence.

Feeling afraid and fearful is a common occurrence for everyone. However, when you add it to the anxiety it can be a great stressor for your life. You may fear having to go to work, eating in public, taking a test, speaking in front of a group, talking to strangers, meeting new people, having sex, speaking in front of your boss, dealing with debt collectors, applying for a job, and the list goes on.

It is easy to understand why so many people are afraid of having to go to work, fearing losing their job, worrying about their family and the fear of their anxiety creates problems. These thoughts often lead to an avoidance mentality. While you may be afraid of what may happen your thought process is often negative.

You cannot control what anxiety creates but you can control how you react to it. If you deal with anxiety positively you will have a more positive outlook on life. However, if you make the mistake of trying to cover your anxiety with drugs or alcohol you can end up with a lifetime of unhappiness and problems.

Once you have a better understanding of the symptoms of anxiety you will know what is causing them and hopefully, you will take action to deal with it in a healthy way.
